Pregnant Olympic Gold Medalist Lauren Holiday Diagnosed With a Brain Tumor

A heartbreaking diagnosis for Lauren Holiday.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist and member of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team is expecting her first child with husband Jrue Holiday, and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.
The 28-year-old athlete revealed that she will undergo surgery to remove it after she gives birth to her child, and her NBA player husband will miss part of the regular season to care for his wife and baby.
"My family comes before basketball," Jrue, 26, told NOLA.com. "I'm obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else."
Lauren, who retired from playing professional soccer in 2015 to start a family, was named the MVP of the National Women's Soccer League in 2013 and won gold at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
Now, the family is focusing their attention on their upcoming addition and the surgery that will come shortly after."Obviously, we were and are still very excited about the birth of our first child, but our focus shifted from having this magnificent blessing to making sure everything is going to be OK with Lauren and the child," Jrue told the site . "Our priorities right now are being able to manage Lauren's symptoms and still have a fairly healthy pregnancy."
Our thoughts go out to the couple.
